Android grows together with iOS, Windows Phone down in the 3rd quarter
A study carried out in the third quarter of this year marked net improvements in Andoird and IOS, while Windows Phone is in decline
According to the latest report from Kantar Wordpanel on the shares of mobile phones and its operating systems Android is continuously growing, while its main rivals, such as, IOS And Windows Phone, have slightly decreased in share compared to previous market numbers. In both Europe and the US, Android leads its rivals with a market share of 73.9% and 61.8% respectively. In Europe, however, Apple takes 15.4% while Microsoft with its operating system Windows Phone takes 9.2%. Interestingly, there has been a decline in the shares of IOS for what concerns the United States by about 3.3 points for a total percentage of 32.6%. Windows Phone still holds a small percentage that is between 4.3 and 4.6%.
As for the manufacturers of smarpthone LG and Motorola they have taken a big step forward in the United States and Kantar sees them in a better position to fight the giants Samsung and Apple. LG is increasing its sales thanks to the top of the range LG G3, while Motorola earns points with the his Motorola Moto X. In China, on the other hand, Samsung feels the pressure of local manufacturers such as Xiaomi which now boasts a market share of around 30%, while Samsung’s share is around 18.4%. Interestingly, 16% of smartphones sold in China are all with a display larger than 5.5 inches
