Apple allows pre-teens to create an iTunes account for the Back To School season

Apple allows pre-teens to create an iTunes account for the Back To School season

For the first time, Apple is allowing children under 13 to have an iTunes account, this only with the approval of an educational institution.

School will soon be back, and Apple is preparing for an increase in the number of iPads that will be distributed by educators to young students.

The terms and conditions, updated by Apple, do not mean that pre-teens will be able to create an iTunes account independently, but this can only be done through educators and after obtaining “verifiable parental consent”.

“This iTunes service is only available to children aged 13 and under, if you are under 13, your Apple ID will be provided to you following a request from an authorized educational institution.”

When iOS 7 arrives in the fall, the software will offer Mobile Device Management, giving teachers the ability to remotely lock or unlock iOS devices with a specific application, making sure all students are on the same activity at the same time.

“With the new App Store Volume Purchase Program, educators will also have the ability to assign applications and e-books en masse to students while maintaining full control of licenses.”

Apple recently closed a $ 30 million deal with the LA Unified School District, to which it will supply iPads for all of its students from 47 schools.
