Apple’s iOS in Car will form an important part of the ecosystem

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, was asked about iOS in Car, the best topic in the company’s WWDC presentation keynote. Cook said it is an “important part of the ecosystem” when compared to the App Store, iTunes, messaging and Siri.

“Having something in the car is very important, it’s something people want,” Cook said, specifying that it was a “key goal” for the company.

iOS in Car was designed to provide greater integration of iOS in cars, offering controls that allow drivers to quickly access maps, get directions and activate hands-free control music, by viewing content on the car navigation screen.

iOS in Car perfectly integrates our iOS device with the in-dash system, if the vehicle is equipped with iOS in Car, it is possible to connect our iPhone 5 and interact with it via the built-in display on the car and via Siri Eyes Free.

You will be able to make calls, access music, send and receive messages, get directions and much more in a simple and safe way. All of this was designed to allow the iPhone to focus on what is needed, so that the driver can focus solely on the road.

The feature is expected to be integrated into a number of new cars starting in 2014, cars from manufacturers such as Honda, Acura, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Infiniti, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, Opel and Jaguar.

According to the hidden settings of iOS 7, iOS in Car can potentially run on AirPlay as well as USB, iOS in Car will be officially unveiled later this year along with the release of iOS 7.

Last year, Apple debuted Siri Eyes Free, which made its first appearance in the Chevy Spark and Sonic cars in early 2013.
