Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets second new game mode: Mastery Challenge

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting a second major update with free content for all players. The update is available starting today and introduces a new game mode, the Hugrheim Empire and new rewards.

The new game mode, Mastery Challenge, is playable from Power Level 221 and when the Grantebridgescire and Ledecestrescire storylines are complete. Eivor meets Hildiran, a mysterious traveler who appears out of nowhere in Ravensthorpe after a meteor impact. Hildiran is a master of the art of struggle meditation; a secret form of training that puts Eivor to the test. Across England, mysterious altars are popping up where Eivor, through meditation, enters the Hugrheim Empire. Three kinds of trials await here:

To keep players from getting offended too easily, each Trial has a specific goal and standard equipment and skills. How well players complete the goals determines which medal they get for that particular ordeal. The more medals players achieve, the more altars appear in England. In addition, each test can be played again in case the medal obtained is not yet the desired result. When players return to England, they also get their own equipment and skills back.

As a reward for overcoming the ordeal, Eivor also gains Energies. These Energies are exchanged at Hildiran for new and unique weapons, tattoos and decorations for the settlement.

Finally, the launch of the Mastery Challenge will be celebrated with a special event that is now live until June 22 in Ubisoft Connect. Joining this will unlock the game’s most mysterious weapon, Skadi’s Blade.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Amazon Luna, Windows PC through the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store, and as part of Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s subscription service. Players who purchase Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on current consoles will receive a free next-gen upgrade for Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. Their progression and in-game content will be preserved between current and next-gen consoles thanks to the new Ubisoft Connect ecosystem.
