If you are a fan of the franchise Mortal Kombat or if you are always following news and articles here on the site, you should know that the most current chapter listed in the series has already been released for almost a year and a half and continues to receive content since then, expanding the base game, which was already quite balanced in all aspects. Who follows the BestyGames, you may have also seen some posts about the game, including the recent quick review of the three characters that make up the game. Kombat Pack 2 (or Kombat Pack 2): Mileena, rain and rambo.
As we’ve already talked a lot about the game and also about its mechanics, narrative, content structure and audiovisual in our previous analyses, this text will be more objective when evaluating what this set brings as a difference when compared to what was before, especially in its version for the new generation. Considering all that is new, the text will be shorter, as there’s not that much to talk about.
We don’t know if this is the definitive edition of the game, considering the strategy of Netherrealm not to announce it so much in advance and not to be explicit when asked about the topic. But if it is, it’s certainly the biggest title in the franchise.. Not in number of characters, since there is no way to reach what was offered in Mortal Kombat Armageddon or Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and I think it’s no longer the devs’ intention to get the amount. Happily, the current parameter seems to be quality, without leaving aside the numbers that, after all, are what sustain the whole thing.

they are therefore 37 characters, 13 of which are complementary content. Of these, five are considered special guests from places other than the universe of MK. Whether or not they are welcomed by the public, the debate remains open on social media and is unlikely to end anytime soon. The fact is that the presence of spawn, wildcard, robocop, Terminator and rambo add media, repercussion and curiosity beyond the barriers of the “gamer” niche and should not be a strategy abandoned anytime soon. There are endless lists of speculations or pure desire for players, entitled to pennywise (in It – The Thing), Ash Williams (in evil dead), Sausage (in Scooby Doo) and so many others. Nothing, however, is confirmed and for now, there is nothing more announced for the near future of the game or even the franchise.
Fact is, the game’s cast has more highs than lows in terms of popularity and gameplay, and the developers’ choice to introduce new characters into the base game — and leave the old and familiar to post-release content — can be questionable, but it works. What still seems disconnected from reality is the launch of themed skins for somewhat outrageous values, as is the case with the latest package with clothes from the 1995 movie, which in Brazil costs more than R$30. buy as there is some similar content for this and other games and it seems to work. But they are certainly not indispensable for having a feeling of completeness, as is the case with new (old) characters.
the version Ultimate, however, seems to be much more a marketing strategy for re-launching the game for a new generation of consoles than really something that brings a significant difference to the edition aftermath, previous update that was released in the first half. This one, as you may know and have read about with us, brought profound changes, as in addition to bringing new players to the base game, it also took advantage of them, along with other DLCs released before, in a new complementary story. On the downside, you get the feeling that only those who have this extra content had access to the true ending of the game’s story, which should be the starting point for an inevitable MK12. But at least it justifies the subtitle.
MK in the new generation
In practice, MK11 Ultimate It brought practically nothing new to the game, except for enthusiasts of competitive online modes, as the possibility of customizing the characters for this purpose was finally released, something already present in offline modes since forever. Now, in addition to the three default variations of each character, players will be able to build their favorite fighter according to their preferences, with some special moves and spells, thus affecting the “meta” of the game. Competitively, quite a change. For those who don’t like online multiplayer or even play it casually, however, the change may even go unnoticed.
Another thing that seemed to be important is upgrading to the power of the new generation, but even this one has very little relevance. Now the 4K dynamic it is, in fact, more stable and powerful than the version for the enhanced consoles of the previous generation.
The framerate, however, remains exactly the same (which was already quite fluid) and there are no significant changes in graphic elements, such as the look of characters, scenarios and so on. The next-gen version — we’ve tested the one from PS5 for this review — it’s basically a faster-loading port (in a game that never had this element as a problem) and more definition lines, which will only make a difference for enthusiasts who have a TV that supports it.
The conclusion, therefore, seems quite evident: Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate it’s a basic update and it’s only justified first because it’s free for those who already have the base game (although the Kombat Pack 2 needs to be purchased separately to get the new characters) and might be a good choice for those who have arrived now and want to get the package Complete — or even secure a second platinum, as playing the game in the next generation opens up a new list of trophies. Fortunately, installing the game on PS5 or not XBox Series S|X brings all previous customizations, statistics and details from the imported save.
Of course, investing in new characters is a personal choice and depends on your interest and willingness to invest now. For those waiting for a definitive version of the game, there is still no certainty that the game will not receive new content in the coming months. MK11 Ultimate is the version more Komplete of the game… until now.
