The world of video games did not have a 2019 full of releases, since the big news were reserved for 2020, the year in which the Xbox Series X it’s the Playstation 5 will be released. However, the world of eSports caught fire, and both games and competitions in games were the subject of much discussion on the Internet.
At the Twitter it was no different. With games released, content from channels and streamers, eSports tournaments, events, and comments about the major releases of 2020, they generated a lot of conversation on the social network. O Twitter explains that, in 2019, there were more than 1.2 billion Tweets on the topic “games”, which means an increase of 20% compared to the same topic in 2018.
And, among the people who spoke the most about games in the world, within the social network, Brazil was in fifth place. Japan took first place in the ranking, followed by the United States, South Korea and Thailand. Fate/Grand Order continued to be the most talked about game, being again the most talked about game within the Twitter in 2019.
Interestingly, just Final Fantasy and Super Smash Bros. appear in the “top 10” as traditional series of console video games. The other nine games are all online, some mobile. And they have a strong community, like Fortnite, Minecraft, Identity V, or PUBG. At events, the E3 continues showing that it has a lot of strength, being the most talked about event, followed by Tokyo Game Show, and for The Game Awards.
In the world of eSports, the world of LoL, O worlds, was the most talked about event, followed by EVO and by Fortnite World Cup. Among the teams, the Make Clan was the most mentioned team. It’s the Flamengo, the current champion of CBLoL, appears as the eighth most talked about team on the platform, worldwide.
