Activision Publishing, Inc. and Bungie today confirmed the Destiny beta release date. The beta includes a preview of the game’s main activities. Fans who pre-order Destiny with a participating retailer will be guaranteed access to the beta. The release looks like this:

– The beta version will be released first for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Plus is required for some features). Date/Time: July 17 at 7:00pm CET;
– For Xbox One and Xbox 360, the beta will be available on July 23 at 7:00pm CET;
– The beta will go offline for scheduled maintenance on July 21 and 22. After that, the beta will reopen for all platforms until July 28 at 08:29am CET.

“We’re looking forward to the global launch of our first beta on multiple consoles,” said Harold Ryan, president of Bungie. “We love playing Destiny ourselves, and with everyone’s help, we’re sure to be ready for the September launch.”

Activision and Bungie also unveiled three epic collector’s editions of the game today. The Destiny Ghost Edition and the Destiny Limited Edition both include the following:
– Limited edition SteelBook Case and Game Disc
– Guardian Folio:
o Arms & Armament Field Guide;
o Postcards from the Golden Age;
o Antique Star Chart.
• Collector’s Edition Digital Content Pack:
o Unique Ghost Casing;
o Exclusive Player Emblem;
o Exclusive Player Ship Variant.
– Destiny Expansion Pass. The Destiny adventure is expanded with Expansion I and II. Both feature new story missions, cooperative activities and competitive multiplayer arenas. You can also earn a multitude of new weapons, shields and equipment:
o Expansion I: The Dark Below – Deep beneath the Moon’s surface, discover an ancient tomb. This tomb has been opened and in the deepest depths of the Hellmouth, home to the hostile race Hive, a dark god has assembled an evil army;
o Expansion II: House of Wolves – details to be announced at a later stage;
o The PlayStation platforms will also offer additional exclusive content for Expansion I and II, which will remain exclusive until at least Fall 2015.

The Destiny Ghost Edition also offers the following:
– Ghost replica, including lights that respond to movement and voice recordings of award-winning actor Peter Dinklage. Dinklage provides the voice of the character Ghost, your highly personal companion when you play Destiny;
– Letter of Introduction;
– Golden Age Relics, including a photo, patch, sticker and two Chrome slides from none other than the Traveler.

When you pre-order Destiny Digital Guardian Edition digitally, you’ll receive a downloadable copy of the game, the Destiny Expansion Pass, and the Collector’s Edition Digital Content Pack.

It is already possible to pre-order Destiny Ghost Edition (€159.99), Destiny Limited Edition (€109.99), Destiny Digital Guardian Edition (€99.99) and the Destiny Expansion Pass (€34.99) for the entire package, Expansion and Expansion II are priced individually at $19.99 at launch). All pre-orders include access to the Vanguard Armory, meaning early access to weapons, gear, and an exclusive player emblem.
