Here we go again with a new review of one ROM custom for Android devices, which today features the Carbon ROM. Carbon is one Very young ROM born from a team of real developers who have put al ROM customization first , from macroscopic things, such as the notification menu, to microscopic things like scrolling animation.
What is Carbon ROM?
Carbon ROM was born from the idea of a team to deeply customize the ROM , in the smallest details, without neglecting anything. The ROM is based, like most custuom ROMs, on the AOSP firmware taken from the Android Stock sources. There Carbon ROM however it offers speed, stability, numerous features and a direct contact between the developers and the user. The team has tried in each ROM to improve the user experience and to offer a better ROM with each update by updating it gradually with all the necessary customizations to make it unique.
What is the firmware based on?
Like any AOSP ROM, the Carbon ROM is compiled from Android sources. The Carbon team is constantly working to maintain numerous different devices, mostly top of the range, but not abandoning older devices. There Carbon ROM can be found among other ROMs in both Official form, when it is developed and supported by the team (as in the case of the top of the range and nexus), or in an unofficial form. Don’t worry though, because all the unofficial ROMs offer all the customizations that the official ROM offers , although often based on CyanogenMod (as AOSP rom) to which all the features of the Carbon ROM are added.
Is my smartphone / tablet compatible with Carbon ROM?
The Carbon team supports numerous smartphones and tablets, first of all the nexus and proceeding with the most famous devices from Samsung, LG, Sony and HTC. However, there may also be less known or dated devices always belonging to the most famous brands. To see if your smartphone / tablet is compatible with the Carbon ROM you can refer to the supported devices in this list, where there are all the models that have “Official” support from the team. This does not mean that it cannot be available for your smartphone or tablet, so the best thing to do is to go to the well-known development site of ROM xda in the Development category related to your device. Here you will have an overview of the ROMs compatible with your device including perhaps an unofficial version of the Carbon ROM.
What does the Carbon ROM offer more than my stock ROM?
The customizations offered by the Carbon ROM they are really a lot and we advise you to try them to fully enjoy the ROM. Also in this case in the settings there is a small sub-menu called Carbon features in which all the changes to be made to the ROM are contained. In particular, it is possible to scroll through the various items such as the interface, the status bar, the navigation bar and fine-tune every aspect of the ROM for example modifying the appearance animation during a List view (a classic list) or the animation of the loading bar where this bar is present. There is also the theme manager that will allow you to download themes from the Play Store and install them easily on your device to change the general interface and a dark theme called Dark Carbon that can be quickly applied between the settings. In the device information you can update the ROM as, both in the official and unofficial ROMs, there is a convenient button to download Delta packages, that is the .zip files that contain only the changes in the code between one version and another and not all the ROM in question.
How do you install the Carbon ROM?
The installation of the Carbon ROM follows the classic guidelines we have come to know with Android. In fact, like any self-respecting custom ROM, even in this case we must be in possession of one modified recovery or a kernel that contains a modified recovery (CMW or TWRP depends on the developer). At this point just put the .zip file of the ROM compatible with your device in the external (where present) or internal memory and restart in recovery. From here you have to flash the ROM and the gapps to have the Play Store and all Google apps. I remind you as usual that a Wipe Data and a Wipe System are highly recommended if you change ROM or if you go from a stock to a custom one. At the end of the installation, restart the device from recovery and it will start Carbon ROM , a ROM for those who love to customize everything. You can go with them to the Carbon ROM site to see all the information on the ROM.
