CheckPoint creates the GamerMates community to tackle mental health issues with the power of gaming

The checkpoint non-profit organizationa group focused on tackling mental health issues with “the power of video games,” has launched a new project with which to achieve your goals.

The GamerMates community is a pro-mental health community for gamers to play together and support each other. With how toxic the gaming community usually is, and especially in online gaming, this is a big step to make the gaming community a better place for absolutely everyone.

CheckPoint has shared the following information about the GamerMates community:

The non-profit organization CheckPoint has revamped its website to include a ton of new features that make it the perfect place to learn more about mental health, increasing your well-being and resilience.

Their new community, GamerMates, makes it easy to find like-minded people (your fellow gamers!) with whom you can play your favorite games. You can find people near you, or someone on the other side of the world. Play anything from Overeatch to Animal Crossing, it’s up to you.

The registration system (starting with the discount price of absolutely free), gives users access to a community of pro-mental health players, achievements and badges, online courses, raffles, meetings… and of course, all the mental health education and resources that CheckPoint can offer.

CheckPoint has also answered some of the toughest questionsconsidering the nature of the community:

What does pro-mental health mean?

It means that you understand that everyone has mental health, that everyone has strengths and vulnerabilities, and that you respect and support that. It means that you are interested in improving your own well-being, and helping others, by being part of a supportive community here at CheckPoint. This is designed to be a group of people who benefit emotionally and socially through the power of games, and each other.

What if someone says something I don’t like?

Please end your game session and talk to us as soon as possible. Remember to include that person’s CheckPoint username.

Right now you can join the GamerMates community and visit CheckPoint for more information or what you need. The world needs more organizations like these that remind everyone that, after all, we are all people who enjoy and share the same passion. But above all, organizations need people who are committed to their cause. You can change the world of many people.
