How it started
In March of the year 2000, there was an event that gamers will not soon forget: Sony launched the Playstation 2 in Japan. Later in the year (in October and November to be precise), the console was also launched in the US and Europe. . Gamers all over the world have been queuing up for this sought-after device, with unprecedented graphics. And to top it all off, in addition to gaming, you could also watch DVDs and listen to CDs on the console.
And now?
Now, seven years later, we can look back on the PS2 with a smile, thanks in part to the many games released on this device, some of which are the big and best titles:

And besides, there are so many good PS2 games for sale for a low price that you would have to be crazy to get rid of your PS2. Playstation 2 gamers with little money don’t have to worry: there are still many months of fun ahead of you!
Xbox
How it started
In December 2001 the Xbox was launched: Microsoft showed that they could make consoles in addition to making regular computers. And what a console! The graphics of the Xbox games were many times better than those of the PS2 and (especially) Gamecube, and you could also listen to CDs on this console and watch DVDs (using a DVD playback kit, sold separately). Gamers around the world eagerly waited to see which console would do better, and which would release the best games.
And now?
Now, six years later, we can also look back at the Xbox on a very successful console. Also on this device very good games have certainly been released:

Original games?
Many original games have also been released on the Xbox. The game Conker, which was previously released on the N64, for example, which was improved and released on the Xbox with a cool online mode. In addition, games like Fable and Jade Empire are of course original, cool games.

No, the Xbox doesn’t have to be in the closet yet either. You can buy very cool Xbox titles very cheaply (less than 5 euros for Half Life 2!), so if you have little money for a next-gen you will also be able to enjoy your old Xbox a lot!
gamecube
How it started
May 2002 was the day: The Gamecube was launched in the Netherlands! Nintendo fans were over the moon with their new console. The graphics might not be as nice as the other consoles, and you couldn’t play CDs or DVDs on your Gamecube, but they were sure there would be a lot of cool games for their console, because Nintendo had them in there. never disappointed.
And now?
Now, five years later, we can also look back at the Gamecube as a successful console. Nintendo fans had nothing to complain about with titles like:

Can you get fries at a snack bar? Of course there were original games on the Gamecube! Because if you see the word Nintendo on your console, you can be sure that plenty of original games will be released! How about Luigi’s Mansion where you got to go ghost hunting with Luigi, Pikmin, Doshin the Giant and Eternal Darkness. And this is just a small selection of the many original titles!
Is the device now in the closet?
No, the Cube does not have to go into the cupboard yet, even though you will be more inclined to put the Gamecube in the cupboard than the other consoles: There are few games available in the shops for this console. That’s a shame, but with a little searching on the internet you can of course also buy many good cool Gamecube titles!
So, this was the review of the ‘old’ consoles, with the conclusion that these consoles do not have to go into the closet yet: You can still have a lot of fun with this!
