Google Contacts – Hamburger menu will be removed

Google likes to change some things in the design of its apps from time to time. Already last year there were indications that the hamburger menu would be removed. Many settings can now be accessed via the profile picture. Now there is information that the contacts app gets a lower bar.

The Google Contacts app has a Material You design bar at the bottom of the screen

Upon opening the Google Contacts app, you will currently see all your contacts sorted alphabetically by first or last name. At the top right is your profile picture with settings and more. The hamburger menu is currently at the top left, but its content has already shrunk.

The first Material You adjustments were made in the Google Contacts app as early as July 2021. Now there is another revision or adjustment in the direction of Material You Design.

The Google Contacts app will have a lower bar in which you can display your contacts or use the “Fix and Manage / Repair and Manage” button to call up all the settings that were previously in the hamburger menu.

Under Fix and Manage you will then find the options Merge and Fix, Restore Contacts, Export, Import (SIM), Import Files, Recycle Bin, Settings, Blocked Numbers and Emergency Contacts. It is not yet clear where the labels are located.

It is not yet known when the new features will reach all users.
