Keep iOS 8 messages, let’s find out what it is and how it works
One of the innovations that Apple has introduced on its new mobile operating system iOS 8 is the possibility to activate the automatic deletion of messages. This allows, after a certain set date, to automatically delete old messages thus freeing up memory on the system, let’s find out more about this function called Keep the messages and how to activate it.
Apple introduced this feature to keep messages primarily to allow users to automatically free up memory space on their operating system. With i messages and iMessagesthere are often many images attached and the total weight of the messaging component increases considerably.
By default on iOS 8 this setting is set to always, so all messages received are stored automatically, but the user can set and activate the cautomatic cancellation using two options, 30 days and one year. This means that after this limit the messages are deleted without the user having to perform any operation.
To set this feature just take your device and go to Settings> Messages> Keep messages and here you will find the various options available, if you activate the automatic deletion, the system will show the following warnings:
Do you want to delete older messages?
This will permanently delete all text messages and message attachments older than one year from your device.
We remind you that by default, the sent and received voice messages are deleted after a few minutes, if you want to keep them on the device you will have to set 30 days or a year in the Keep messages function.
