The application Lumia Camera finally returns to be compatible on all devices Nokia Lumia 1020 with Windows 10 Mobile Preview on board. The awaited news is rapidly spreading online at the same time as the official announcement, thus allowing the owners of the popular cameraphone to still be able to use the whole package of specific features that the Imaging team headed by Nokia had specially devised for the 41 megapixel PureView sensor embedded in the said smartphone.

For the sake of greater clarity, it is still worth taking a step back and reconstructing the exact course of events. With the advent of the Windows 10 Mobile Preview, Lumia Camera had not yet been updated to the latest release of the operating system signed by Microsoft, therefore the normal use of the application was substantially subordinated – pending the extension of compatibility to Windows 10 Mobile, which took place today – to a downgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 in case the smartphone has been updated to the latest build of Microsoft’s operating system.

In the US, 42% of Windows users would be considering switching to Apple

Not a fundamental lack, since the Windows 10 default Camera application is equally valid and well done, but certainly Lumia Camera fits better with the nature of cameraphone than the still current Nokia 1020, especially for the support for shooting in RAW format. The Redmond giant wasted no time in clarifying the situation, promising only a month ago the restoration of Lumia Camera for all devices with Windows 10 Mobile on board.

So here we are at today’s news (with all due respect to the owners of Lumia 1020 on which the Preview of Windows 10 Mobile is installed), but the most curious case is that the application in question seems to work, at least as reported by several users, also on Nokia Lumia 535 and Lumia 640, smartphone whose compatibility with the application is not provided. In any case, in case you have a Lumia 1020 you can download it for free Lumia Camera from Microsoft store, see the badge below.
