Get ready to leave Earth again as the highly anticipated Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be released in Europe on June 11, 2010. Packed with new features and gameplay elements, Mario’s latest adventure brings everything to make any player forget their earthly worries.
It’s raining shooting stars on Mushroom Kingdom. That means the Star Festival is back in full swing. On the way to Princess Peach’s castle to attend the festival, Mario encounters a Luma who gives him a Shine and ducks under his cap, giving Mario the Spin Move power. Once at the castle, Mario watches Bowser, blown up to gigantic proportions by star power, attacks and kidnaps Princess Peach. When Bowser then takes off into space, Mario naturally gives chase. Thus begins an alien adventure, in which Mario will do everything in his power to save the princess and restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom!
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is packed with new features, including new ways to travel through space, brand new Mario costumes, an improved two-player co-op mode, a Cosmic Guide and a Yoshi who’s hungrier than ever. Take the helm of Starship Mario to move through Super Mario Galaxy 2. This spaceship becomes available when the first level of the game is completed. Actually, it is not a spaceship but a small planet that has been given the shape of Mario’s head by a Luma. This planet travels between the Galaxies, similar to traveling between levels in classic Mario games. Over the course of the adventure, the planet will slowly be filled with new characters and surprises, so as well as being a vehicle, it’s a place in its own right.
There are also two new Mario costumes: Cloud Mario and Rock Mario. In his cloud form, Mario can make three platforms on his own for the first time to reach new heights. His other new costume turns Mario into a rolling boulder that can hit enemies and other elements for a variety of effects.
The cooperative mode from Super Mario Galaxy returns in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and has been expanded. In this Co-Star mode, your friend can help you as a Luma who can not only hold enemies but also make Mario’s famous Spin Move to knock down enemies and affect some environmental elements. In addition to the Star Bits, the second player can now collect coins for Mario! Your faithful friend Yoshi will accompany you on your journey through space this time. Jump on the back of this dino and use his skills. For example, when Yoshi eats a berry that looks like a light bulb, he emits a brilliant light that reveals secret elements. Just keep in mind that this effect is only short-lived, meaning Mario and Yoshi will have to keep eating berries to keep the platform from disappearing under their feet!
Super Mario Galaxy 2 offers a great experience for every player, with levels that are difficult enough to challenge even the most experienced players, but also offer plenty of room for less experienced players. To prevent players from getting stuck, Super Mario Galaxy 2 features the Cosmic Guide, a help mode that guides players through areas. So whether you’re an experienced Mario player or not, make sure you’ve circled June 11, 2010 in your calendar, because from that day on, you’ll be able to experience the most amazing space adventures with Mario.
