Nintendo Switch ushers in a new era of console gaming on the go

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch gaming system, console-quality gaming players are no longer tied to the living room TV. Because with the Nintendo Switch, players can enjoy their favorite games wherever, whenever and with whomever they want. The system is available in two versions: one with a set of gray Joy-Con controllers and a version with a neon blue and neon red Joy-Con controller.

The Nintendo Switch can be connected to a TV at home, and instantly transforms into a handheld with a 6.2 inch HD screen. The screen offers capacitive multi-touch capabilities for supporting games. The left Joy-Con has a record button that players can use to take in-game screenshots, which they can then share with friends on social media. The right Joy-Con provides an NFC touchpoint for interacting with amiibo figures, and an infrared motion camera that can recognize the distance, shape and movement of nearby objects in specially designed games. Both Joy-Con support motion control and include an advanced HD rumble function. The separately sold Nintendo Switch Pro controller also includes all of these features (except the infrared motion camera) and has a more traditional shape.

Also released today is the first epic Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which enriches the foundation of the famous series with many groundbreaking elements. The game is available for both Nintendo Switch and Wii U. Also arriving today are new amiibo for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild including Link (rider), Link (archer), Zelda and a Bokoblin amiibo. A big new Guardian amiibo is also available today.

The competitive party game 1-2-Switch will also be released today. This is a collection of no less than 28 games, ranging from revolver duels in the Wild West to cow milking competitions. The games utilize a variety of Joy-Con functions, including motion control, HD rumble, and infrared motion camera. The total package is full of innovative aspects and asks players not to look at the screen but at each other. This creates a lively, sometimes hilarious atmosphere in which everyone enjoys themselves.

But today is just the beginning. Because new games for the Nintendo Switch will always arrive all year round. Other Nintendo Switch games that Nintendo will release in the coming year include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April 28), ARMS (Spring), Splatoon 2 (Summer), Fire Emblem Warriors (Fall), Super Mario Odyssey (Late 2017) and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (2017).
