Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game Now Available
SEGA of America and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today launch Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game worldwide for console and PC platforms. With 18 arcade-style Olympic events, a robust Avatar Creator, 8-player online variants, and extensive customization options including over 50 costumes, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 offers sports enthusiasts of all ages the chance to fulfill their Olympic dreams at home. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is available today for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“The Olympics have a long tradition of official video games and we look forward to welcoming fans from around the world to Tokyo 2020 through this latest title,” said Elisabeth Allaman, VP Commercial Integration, IOC Television and Marketing Services. “By partnering with SEGA, we are able to engage both new and existing fans – including many young people – in the Olympics well beyond the Games period. We’re thrilled that the next generation of young Olympic fans may be getting their first contact with the Olympics and the Olympic spirit through the official video game.”
Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 offers fans of all ages the chance to take the global stage in 18 entertaining, arcade-style Olympic events, including the 100m, long jump, basketball, BMX, Rugby Sevens, sport climbing, tennis and more. Players can compete against friends and family in a variety of solo and online modes, including Practice Mode, Ranked Games and more. The experience is made even more convincing by the realistic reproductions of real Tokyo 2020 locations (including the Olympic Stadium).
“SEGA has a long history of developing fun, family-friendly, and inclusive Olympic-themed video games that bring the world’s greatest sporting event into people’s homes,” said Ian Curran, President & COO, SEGA of America. “Whether you want to conquer the world leaderboards or simply create a fun avatar to experience your favorite arcade sport, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 offers fans of all ages a fun and authentic Olympic experience.”
In addition to 18 playable events, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 includes a comprehensive Avatar Creator that allows players to build and customize the Olympic athlete of their dreams. Do you want to jump as a pirate or become the first judo champion in a spacesuit? Over 50 colorful costumes, including Miraitowa (the official Olympic mascot!) and Sonic the Hedgehog, offer players a variety of fun creative customization options. Players can also share their avatars’ codes with friends to form the ultimate dream team.
