The matter of Sony’s backwards compatibility in this generation with PlayStation 4 gives us to drown in rivers of ink. Rumors about its arrival, a streaming service – PlayStation Now – that continues to accumulate games but remains stagnant in a handful of countries…
While the competition continues to boast, and rightly so, of a large backward compatible catalog with games that are even included in the Xbox One titles and Nintendo opened the nostalgic season for the NES Mini and Super NES Mini, Sony added two and two and announced PlayStation Classic , a cut-down version of the first PlayStation. Pasta for your pockets, bait for your users. Everyone happy… or not.
PlayStation Classic, a catalog with mystery
The launch of the mini PSX was promising and received with much enthusiasm. Its price was somewhat high, 99.99 eurosand of its 20-game catalog only Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, R4 Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms were announced, but people began to imagine what other fifteen wonders its tiny guts contained.
Ourselves we make our predictions or rather wish list, with which we hoped to have games like: Crash Bandicoot the game of the charismatic mascot, for many the first Playstation mascot, Silent Hill of the first horror games, Gran Turismo the boom of racing cars with millions of games sold, Vegas ****** that had classic ****** games such as poker, roulette, which opened the mouths of what today is online ******** entertainment, R-Type Delta that provided a novelty in the form of dozens and dozens of prototype ships to choose from; but To the great surprise of many, none of these games were taken into account. for this special edition of Playstation Classic.
Although logically such a successful console had many candidates to enter, people were more or less unanimous with certain names and although some of them have ended up arriving – Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Siphon Filter – others, as we already know, have not and their substitutes have turned out to be quite strange.
Can you understand me?
These days some lucky media have been able to receive PlayStation Classic in their offices and have been a couple of disappointments.
The fattest and most hurtful is that all games will come in perfect english even those that in their day were launched localized into Spanish. The reasons? I’m glad you ask me this question…
There is no reason, at least nothing that makes sense beyond reducing costs due to low sales expectations. Sony has limited itself to making two versions, the Japanese and the European/Americanconsidering that most Europeans speak English and that it was not worth getting involved in locations.
And as if this were not enough, some console menu images and videoswith a design that, in my opinion, seems to correspond more to a crappy-emulator than to a current product, no matter how much you want to imitate the classic PlayStation.

conclusion
I don’t know about you, but PlayStation Classic has left me very cold with its catalog and these decisions not to localize the games, and it makes me understand that the first that does not believe in this hardware is the PlayStation itself.
When the console was announced, many of us received the news with great enthusiasm. The problem with this type of advertisement is that illusion can turn into disappointment with a couple of bad decisions.
I am aware that this type of product is not a mass phenomenon either and that, even if it had had a perfect catalog and everything in perfect Spanish, I doubt that PlayStation Classic would have sold a lot, but it is aimed at the veteran player and this is usually a demanding playerif Sony does not require itself, it is almost better not to take anything.
Let’s hope that with a future PlayStation 2 Classic they will do things betteralthough surely there will be many who think that to do so, they better keep the idea to themselves until someone in the Japanese company really believes in it.
