The other day we gave you details of the large cast of characters that will be part of our band of Van der Linde outlaws in one way or another in the next Rockstar sandbox: Red Dead Redemption 2.
with so much protagonist one might wonder if it would be possible to control several during the development of the game, and even exchange them when we wanted as we have been able to do in Grand Theft Auto V with Michael, Franklin and Trevor.
Rockstar confirms that in Red Redemption 2 there will be only one character
The New York-based studio has confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter through its art director, Josh Basswhat We will only handle one character in RDR 2 and that will be the already announced Arthur Morgan.
In addition, Mr. Bass spoke about the band, which is experiencing a moment of great notoriety and will have a hard time getting out of one piece of the iron persecution by those who want to hunt them down:
In Red Dead Redemption 2 you get to see that gang, including Marston, at the height of their notoriety and just as things start to fall apart.
The director emphasized that the story will focus on Arthur Morgan himself:
This story centers on Arthur Morgan, the Dutch’s most trusted enforcer. Adopted into the gang by the Dutch as a child, Arthur considers the gang to be his family: the Dutch have given his life a much-needed purpose, and the gang served as the positive and constant in Arthur’s life. .
Finally, he commented that the idea of changing characters in Red Dead Redemption 2 did not make as much sense as it did in GTA V:
Switching between characters made sense and was a lot of fun in Grand Theft Auto V. Sticking with one character was more appropriate for the structure and narrative of a Western. Arthur lives and fights alongside other members of the Van der Linde gang, and they’re a fully realized group of characters with relationships to each other and to Arthur, but this is Arthur’s story and we’re putting players firmly in Arthur’s boots. as he and the gang deal with a quick change. We think that people will really love the feeling of belonging to the gang. It’s not something we’ve done before.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will hit stores on October 26th on PS4 and Xbox One.
