Sony files a patent for online cloud gaming

Sony Interactive Entertainment America seems to have a competitor in the works for Google Stadia. It concerns a cloud-based gaming system that people would work on, according to a patent that has been applied for. The patent was filed last month by Sony and facilitates a channel driver that should provide input/output processing for the resources that are connected to the online data center. Sony’s PlayStation 5 will be announced next year and should bring with it an online platform that fully supports online streaming of games. They have been working on this together with Microsoft for some time. Exact details are not yet known of what the service will look like.
