Sony: Throwing money down doesn’t make talented developers

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, Jim Ryan, has said throwing money at it won’t help you build equally creative and talented development teams. Through the PS Lifestyle we read that it is a careful process that takes a lot of time and work. He also believes that developers should make the most of the hardware that is offered to them.

We want the developers to use our hardware in a creative way. We had a dip with the PlayStation 3 but came back with the PlayStation 4. One of the reasons for that was the huge focus on putting the gamer first. The output for the PlayStation 4 lifecycle was great. But the best games didn’t come until the second part of the cycle. We have continuously tried to make improvements. Setting up such teams with a lot of talent and creativity goes beyond throwing money.
