The iPhone drops to 7th place in China, the economic model will be key in emerging markets

The new data, released by Canalys analysts, shows that the iPhone fell from 5th to 7th place in its Chinese market share in the fourth quarter.

Apple’s iPhone has dropped to 7th in China’s market ranking, even below local companies like Huawei and Xiaomi. Apple now holds 4.8% of the smartphone market in China.

The news seems to underline the importance of an economic model of the iPhone, a model that Apple is planning to be able to move up in the ranking.

Apple never wanted to have to compete with local Chinese companies at the budget end of the market, but for example, Xiaomi’s latest Hongmi laptop is priced at just $ 130, a great price when it comes to emerging markets.

The budget iPhone will have to be able to compete with low-cost smartphones, offering better features, design and an affordable price.
