The San Francisco Planning Commission voted in favor of the new Apple Store in Union Square; an Apple spokesperson said it will be a flagship, it will become even more iconic than the glass cube in New York City.

The announced changes also include the relocation of the history fountain, to allow the new shop to be centered in the square; Among the details of the project there would also be a plan to provide Wi-Fi connection to the public. After hearing the pros and cons, the committee voted by approving the project by a 5 to 1 margin.

Now the city council of supervisors is the last hurdle that remains, once the council has given approval to build, Apple will be able to initiate the demolition of the existing building to make way for the newer facility.
