There will be no new Assassin’s Creed game in 2019

Assassin’s Creed Origins went on sale on October 27, 2017 and has received content up to several months later. A few weeks later we learned of the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which we now know will be released on October 5, less than a year later. And in between, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered has also arrived.

Definitely, a very full year for the franchise.

Odyssey will be filled with content

Ubisoft has spoken about this rate of releases in an interview. More specifically, its CEO Yves Guillemot has stated that the company will focus on post-Odyssey content.

On why Origins and Odyssey were able to launch one after the other, Guillemot explained that it was because they had two separate teams on both projects.

It was only because the team they were working separately, so we have two games now, one a year after the other. But next year you won’t have a full one.

Guillemot, however, It hasn’t been completely clear on whether or not there will be a spin-off or some other title. in the universe that could be cast instead, but the CEO promised more for Odyssey in the year following its release.

What you will have is a lot of content on the way in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The team really wants to give, on a regular basis, some new gameplay possibilities, so when you get Odyssey this year, you’re going to be immersed in it for a couple of years actually.

We’ll have to wait to see what this new content is all about and whether it’s a series of downloadable content packs, new single player campaigns, or some combination of the two. Whatever it is, could be the biggest Assassin’s Creed game to date.

A break never hurts

Ubisoft took a similar break before releasing Origins.after in 2016 Ubisoft had released a series of games in the franchise with mixed responses and technical problems.

Time to think comes in handy, according to Guillemot:

Time gave the Origins team a chance to really deliver what they wanted. The community has been responding very well to it and when I saw what we’re offering with Odyssey I know the community that came back with Origins will love it.
