Visit Mars and survive in the psychological horror game ‘Moons of Madness’
the independent study Rock Pocket Games has announced his new sci-fi psychological horror game, Moons of Madness.
From an introspective first-person narrative inspired by HP Lovecraft, explore the inner struggles of astronaut Shane Newehart and the supernatural events that occur at the Trailblazer Alpha research station, the first scientific outpost on the planet Mars.
According to Rock Pocket Games, Moons of Madness is based on these three basic mechanics:
- The combination of sciencebased on NASA’s meticulous analysis and X-Space investigation, with Lovecraftian horror.
- An innovative feature called “Zone Outs” that simulates Lovecraftian madness. Players are exposed to hallucinations and visions in which they play as part of the game. They will have to understand what the visions express as they foreshadow certain events that trace the character’s history.
- explore mental illness through various game modes without antagonizing the medical condition itself.
Those who attend Gamescom 2017 next month will have the opportunity to try out the game in a playable version that will be available as part of the Indie Arena Booth. How much of the game will be playable or what part it will be has not been detailed.
Moons of Madness is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It is scheduled to go on sale during the second or third quarter of 2018 at an as yet unknown price. You can see the announcement trailer below.
