General impression
With the MWC just finished, it is time to make evaluations and make them hot, before the passage of time begins to dilute memories and mix sensations.
Yesterday it was the turn of our colleague Rubén and today a server, in his second presence at the mobile industry event, is going to give you his opinion, very personal, of what the last edition of the Barcelona fair has meant. . And I already anticipate that not everything in this fair is Samsung Galaxy S5
If I have to use a word, I found this edition of the MWC disappointing. There have been no products that have caused people to go to a stand just by seeing them. Yes, it is true that there have been very positive notes such as the LG and its LG G Flex or LG G Pro 2 or the new Nokia X and Nokia XL with its fork of Android, but nothing that has lifted us from our seats. At most the Samsung Gear Fit, a statement of intent that will surely fall when the time comes.
In another sense of things, the organization has shone when it comes to infrastructure, management and this year security, probably motivated by the demonstrations of groups outside the fair. A great feast of technology that, even so, continues to remain and become scarce, due to the increasing number of participants.
The best terminal
If I have to keep one my choice is easy. Its about LG G Pro 2, a terminal that has the best on the market in terms of hardware (at least to date) and great finishes. In turn, it presents the accumulated experience with the LG G2 and is a more than interesting alternative in the world of phablets to the ubiquitous Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The place of the LG G Pro 2 would have been occupied by the LG G Flex if it were not for this makes use of a screen “only” at 720p, but it is the other terminal that has fallen in love with me.
Very closely with these two examples, another phablet has remained, such as the Huawei MediaPad X1, a terminal of great and careful design as well as unbridled power, which offers the latest hardware at very competitive prices. Without a doubt, Huawei is one of the manufacturers that has tried the most and it shows.
The best wearable
There is no color. The Samsung Gear Fit has become the star of this MWC on its own merits, by originality, by finishes, by potential. The screen is a real wonder and soon it has generalized compatibility with Android terminals and an adjusted price, it can be a great seller.
There were many other alternatives and I am actually using a Fitbit Flex and an Alcatel BoomBand Life, but Only the device presented by the Koreans of Samsung marked a line between what has been seen so far and a future that with the Samsung Gear Fit seems closer and closer.
The surprise
I have to share this title with the aforementioned Samsung Gear Fit and the LG G Flex. Two totally different proposals but with a characteristic of common weight such as the presence in both of a flexible type screen to be expected, if everything follows a normal course, it will be habitual and trend in the coming years. Both exquisite designs enhanced by the use of this type of screens that have conquered us.
The manufacturer that has done it best
For me it has been LG, a manufacturer that supported by the success of terminals such as Google’s Nexus 5 or the LG G2 has managed to turn the wheel to its erratic policy, achieving the favor of critics and the public. Terminals in all ranges, low, medium and high and of course, the inevitable wearable accessory, have made LG, from my point of view, the most interesting manufacturer.
The manufacturer that has surprised
HTC has surprised, but it has done it for the worse. Nothing new, at least presented and available to test, a bland, very bland pavilion, which only housed the HTC One, HTC One Mini and HTC One Max models. Little, very little baggage for a manufacturer in a hurry that wants to get out of the crisis by offering new products. And worst of all, is that after seeing the leaked video in detail of the HTC M8, things do not look much better.
