Sony stops production of PlayStation 5 and is working on PS5 Slim

Sony stops production of PlayStation 5 and is working on PS5 Slim

Sony has today announced that production of the PS5 has stopped immediately. The group has announced that it has produced enough units in 2020 and that the desired profit and turnover has been achieved. The existing stock of units will be delivered in the coming months. That is expected to be 2 million units that will be available at Kijkshop Nederland and Dixon’s webshop. Earlier this week we already read that Japanese employees went home with 7 months of profit distribution. Sony is now saying that the next cash cow should be the PS5 Slim. It should be published in 2023. In a response, Sony says:

Enough is enough. When all the money goes to our employees and we have to launder with bonuses, then you know things are not going well. Our greenhouse is well stocked and so we are looking forward to the next project. The PS5 Slim should provide a higher install base, but for now we are putting a stop to production. Profits must be kept within bounds.

The PS5 Slim is expected to have an Intel i10, 64 gig RAM and two Geforce GTX 3080 cards in SLI on board. A price has not yet been announced. Due to the chip shortage at AMD, Sony is switching production to Intel and Nvidia. Sony itself has not yet officially confirmed the message.
